“All are equal, but some are more equal than others.” And our fight continues…
The words quoted from the famous British writer George Orwell are still a saddening reality in the context of our society in India. The majority of our rural population suffers inequality of every kind- social, economic and political, even as India taking pride in being the largest democracy in the world enters its 68th year as a republic, this year 2017. SECURE was born in 1994 as a response to this state of affairs quite conspicuous in one of the tribal dominated districts of Odisha, that is, Mayurbhanj, where tribes of various clans constituting about 60% of the total population are among the poorest and most powerless in the society.

Tribal Dance
In 2017SECURE volunteers swung into action, even without any support from any external source, holding meetings and exhorting the farmers to store water in tanks, ponds, and wells or by any means possible so that layer of ground water would come up keeping the surrounding lands moist. The organization did this campaign in 20 villages in Gopabandhu Nagar and Kaptipada Blocks with the help of its contact with SHGs
