SECURE has been continuing its effort to save the mother earth through creation of awareness on environmental protection . Our office is at the foot of Similipal mountain range . We are keeping on our effort to save Similipal ( trees ,medicinal plants and wild animals ) . Similipal plays a vital role in climate change . Rally , distribution of leaflets, distribution of plants , discussion with SHG members are our major activities on environment .
SECURE has joined hands with NABARD’s campaign for water conservation. Topography of Mayurbhanj district consisting mostly of high lands, and deforestation threatening the ecological balance, scarcity of water for agricultural purposes is highly alarming. Hence the call for conserving rain-water wherever possible is of paramount importance.
In 2017SECURE volunteers swung into action, even without any support from any external source, holding meetings and exhorting the farmers to store water in tanks, ponds, and wells or by any means possible so that layer of ground water would come up keeping the surrounding lands moist. The organization did this campaign in 20 villages in Gopabandhu Nagar and Kaptipada Blocks with the help of its contact with SHGs. The people keep demanding outside assistance for building structures that would help in irrigating their lands both for kharif and rabi crops.
This project was implemented in NOTA GP under Kaptipada Block . 100 SHG members were imparted training on Banaraj Poultry Rearing . After training 22 JLG out of these SHG were formed and loan sanctioned to these JLGs. Poultry birds were kept by the trainee members . Objective of the project was to get eggs from the birds and earn a sizeable income from the poultry as a business mode .Regular supervision and vaccination by our Para Vet and Govt Veterinary Surgeon of the Block was done .Azola, white ant were cultivated and fed to the birds .Protection by net were given .In spite of our several effort as the project failed to achieve its desired goal due to mortality of the birds , we dropped this project before being completed .
